5 ways to support your favorite artist.

I got one Christmas card this year, just one. And it’ll be one I’ll always remember. So do I have to say it? 2020 was a garage year, right? And of course, that’s more of a general observation than anything else. A lot of things were either postponed or didn’t happen altogether. Among other things I’ve noticed that I received significantly fewer Christmas cards this year. I guess we’re being cautious about everything. and I’m not counting those automated Christmas cards you get car dealerships. but I did receive one that I count as special. It’s odd, I’ve never met this person. We don’t even live in the same state and only had a handful of conversations online. However, there is a reason why this particular Christmas card isn’t going in the trash.

It is not just a Christmas card but also a thank you letter.  more than a month ago I purchased 2 art prints, making three in total from the same artist, currently, those pieces of Art are decorating my walls. the letter what’s from the artist herself. it was handwritten and within it thank me for encouraging her to keep going. it was then that I was reminded of how important we are to each other.

Creating something and putting it out into the world can be a difficult task, to say the least. I know from experience it’s a mix of emotions of excitement and dread. You want people to love it, you want people to Value it oh, you put so much of yourself into your creation oh, there’s a part of you that wants to be validated. Of course, you know that someone isn’t going to like it or Worse no one will like it. do this enough times without any support and it can be a very lonely endeavor. Which brings me to my eternal monologue, how can you support your favorite artist?

  1. Hit the like button!: Okay okay this might seem trivial and perhaps this isn’t applicable for every situation. Not everyone has a social media page oh, but most of it. a lot of artwork is shared all I visually musically or otherwise it cost nothing to show support with just a click of the of Mouse. being on the other end does actually help.
  1.  Talk: This one really is a subsection of first but nevertheless talk! Engage with the artist and ask questions, it really helps. Not just with social media, although engagement does matter. He can also help with mental state, personally unless I invested a little bit of myself into something I  won’t talk about it.  making every I received that much rewarding. this may seem like a small Fein considering we do this all the time with those with larger platforms, a toy small creator of any sort tells them that their investment isn’t wasted.
  2. Put money on it!: I know I know we just had to go there. It’s no secret that the term starving artist describes a lot of creatives nowadays. midi doesn’t have the budget 2 create where they envision oh, I know I don’t. so when someone actually pays you for your art that goes miles more than what you think it does. If I’m being honest from my own experience I don’t need to make a profit to feel that I’ve brought value to someone else. but a few dollars that have come my way I appreciate it more than the thousand dollar stimulus check. Too soon?
  1. Give it your time: a lot of artwork that you digest whether it’s a song, a painting, a book, a graphic novel Etc will take you a fraction of the time to digest then it took the Creator to make. That is just the nature of things, however, when you give a fraction of your time to those who listen to that song play Ashley flips the page of that book to take an extra 30 seconds to admire the canvas it means a lot oh, trust me. In this day in age our attention spans are really short, someone even said it is comparable to that of a goldfish. Pretty pathetic if you ask me, which makes people’s attention harder to grab and even harder to hold. so many times you’re giving support just by giving it your time.
  2.  Tell somebody!: Well this might seem obvious but artist pancreatitis does have a hope that their Creations in Rich your life in some way, and one of the best evidence that you’ve thanks something to be good is by telling someone else about it. When I hear of someone sharing one of my stories with someone else there’s a little part of my heart that leaps for joy. And I know I’m not the only one.
