So an A.I. is now a gospel artist…yay? It’s a crazy world out there; that part doesn’t need too much explanation; however, exactly how far left we’ve gone gets a little murky. It’s 2021, and by now, quite a bit of us use Artificial intelligence in some way or fashion. You can find A.I. in your everyday life. There are tons of apps that use A.I. to personalize content for you. These apps are powered by machine learning and can learn from your previous interactions to provide better recommendations. There is also the evolution of personal assistants like Siri or Alexa that can automate specific tasks or answer questions you may have. I have google home devices spread out all around my home and rely on A. I to tell me the weather and how my commute to work is going to be.
Even on my Spotify app, there are playlists curated just For Me based upon my listening history. And for the most part, I’m okay with that. Bring on the Tech overlords! That is until they show up and sing me music. You see, up till now, I believe what came before was expected in some way. We give machines tasks that we don’t want to do ourselves, or artificial intelligence is better at Men We Are. But I always thought that creativity is solely a human Function within our society, Alas that too can be replaced. Meet J.C., the gospel artist, … who’s also Artificial.
Created for the Metaverse, Christian entertainment and media company, Marquis Boone Enterprises (MBE), released “Biblical Love,” which is entirely performed by J.C.
Whatever your views of Christian music today usually boil down to the poor selection on Christian radio or the lyrics just not hitting it. You can criticize people for all these things, but what do you do when an A.I. creates the music for you to worship too? To take it further, what do you do if you enjoy it? I listened to “biblical love,” the signal by J.C., and I couldn’t tell that it wasn’t just another Christian song. I can see this being played, and none would be the wiser. Will time tell if that is a good thing, or can we just hit the emergency exit right now and call it an apocalypse now?
