If you’ve been a subscriber of Psalmist Scribe, then you’ll remember the mission statement has always been to bring attention to Christian art. So if you’ve seen the articles starting this year, you’ve seen headlines such as Lord of the rings and A.I. debuting on Spotify, and maybe wondering have we’ve been hacked?
I wouldn’t blame you if that thought crossed your mind, but in truth, this has been a pivot that was a long time coming…even before I knew it. Since 2019 a search began to find Christian artiest and find simply find out “what are we doing?” As research and interviews commenced, I noticed a trend of art taking place in the pop culture space. You can see this in the last issue of Psalmist Scribe, issue #2, where I interviewed graphic novel artists and writers, and video game developers. More and more believers find themselves in the world of geekdom (I know, right?). Not surprising considering its rise to popularity in recent years, although many I would expect to have been a contributor long before it became mainstream. The art and storytelling that have come out of this genre have been monuments to the world we live in. So it would come as no surprise that much of the art we’ve made had been inspired by this media. The fact that we have made an impact on the culture itself might.
So what does this mean? It means that for the foreseeable future, you are getting geek news, anime quotes, nerd trivia, and the love of Jesus Christ. I hope you will be a part of the creative journey and its many opportunities.
